FocusFrame/Work Session Planner

Work Session Planner

Estimate focus blocks and breaks for a workload.

METHOD & NOTES

How work session planner works

Estimate focus blocks and breaks for a workload.

Formula and convention

Work = tasks x minutes per task. Blocks = ceiling(work / block length). There are blocks - 1 breaks.

A worked example

Six 20-minute tasks need five 25-minute blocks and four 5-minute breaks: 140 minutes total.

Scope and precision

The final block can be shorter. Context switching, interruptions, and long recovery breaks are not included.

Displayed results may be rounded. Inputs are processed locally and are not stored by this site. Keep the original values if you need to reproduce the result.

Why might another tool give a different result?

Compare unit definitions, rounding, period assumptions, and input values. This page states the convention used by this calculator.
